Can It Forward | Ball Blue Book of Preserving Giveaway

Can It Forward 2012

Celebrate Can It Forward July 14th 2012

If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time you know I love to can.  Usually I make jams.

Last year I made refrigerator garlic dill pickles.  I made  a couple  of jars of them a few weeks ago.

Canning is something I have enjoyed doing for many years and I am so happy to see how main stream it has become in the last few years.

The first thing I ever made was blackberry jam back in 1989 while we were living in Georgia. I picked wild blackberries a couple of years in a row.

I’ve got a great story about my blackberry picking days in Georgia if you’d like a chuckle or a shriek.

This year National Can It Forward Day is July 14th . Are you planning to host a canning party? Are you planning to catch some of the live events or watch online? I’d love to hear what your plans are.

I also want to let you know that I will be hosting a couple of great giveaways to help you celebrate National Can It Forward Day.

So make sure your subscribed to my blog updates so you know when the giveaway goes live. There is a form at the top of the page to sign up for email updates to my blog.

This week I decided to giveaway a copy of the Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving. This is the canning recipe book to have. Whether your a seasoned canner or someone just beginning their journey in food preserving.

It is packed with recipes and full of information about preserving food.

  1. Look at you, all pro w/ the little widget there! I may have to steal that sometime… :) No, but seriously, canning is something I’d like to get into this year, and I got the jars and the pot and all the trimmings. I just gotta do it. But since this is a year of “firsts” anyway, this is just one more “first”. :)

  2. I have been canning for a few years now, for my family and to have for gifts. I still feel like a complete novice, and could use all of the advice I can get :)

  3. I am a wannabe canner. My great aunt was a canner, my great grandmother was a canner, my husband’s great aunt is a canner. I want to be one too! We’re moving to SC next month and I plan on learning to can and start canning then.

  4. i have canned once!!

  5. I am definitely a wanna be canner.
