It's pretty easy and boy they taste so good. Homemade fruit roll-ups or homemade fruit leather is so much better for you than store bought fruit roll ups because you are using fresh fruit and have control over the amount of sugar that goes into this favorite kid snack.

You can make this recipe with a blender or using a food mill to make the peach puree. I've included directions for both ways.

Disclosure: Ball Canning supplied me with the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker to try out. Some links in this post are affiliate links. Use a blender or Suction Cup Base Food Mill to make the fruit puree.

About the Ball freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker

Back over the summer I had a chance to test out the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker from Ball Canning. You may have seen my Roasted Tomatillo Salsa recipe I made using the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker.

My recipe won the blogger Can Off competition Ball hosted during the 2016 Can It Forward event! Ball demoed my recipe during the live event. It was very exciting!

Using the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker for other recipes

What I love about the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker is that you can make some many other recipes besides tomato sauce with it.

You can make Tomato Sauce, Tomato Paste, Marinara, Ketchup, Pico de Gallo, Salsa Verde, Applesauce, Pearsauce, Salsa, Barbecue sauce, Fruit Jam, Hummus, Pesto, Refried Beans, Soup, Baby Food and Purees. If you love using fresh vegetables and fruits then there is no telling all the other recipes you'll be able to think up once you own the Pro Sauce Maker.

Making Peach Roll-Ups

If you don't have a Harvest Pro Sauce Maker you can still make this Peach Fruit Roll-Ups recipe but you will have to peel, pit, chop and puree the peaches by hand. A strong blender or a food mill will work for pureeing the peaches.

That is a lot of work! but homemakers do it every day and have been for hundreds of years so don't think you need the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker to make fruit roll ups but compared to an expensive blender you can buy the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker for about a quarter of the price.

The freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker is a bit of an investment but if you make a lot of homemade recipes using fresh fruits and vegetables it might be an investment you are willing to make. It saves so much time. I really couldn't believe how fast processing the fresh peaches was while I was making this fruit rollup recipe.

Christmas Gifts for Foodies

The freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker would make an excellent Christmas gift for the foodie in the family. Anyone who loves to can homemade fruits and vegetables would love the freshTECH Harvest Pro Sauce Maker and if you want to make homemade baby food and can salsa this is an appliance that can be used for many different types of food not just canning.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons Ball Fruit Fresh (a life saver when it comes to fruit that browns once cut!)
  • 3 tablespoons cool water
  • 9 large Peaches or Nectarines (8-9 cups peach slices.)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to the lowest setting. Mine is 170 F. degrees.
  2. Set up the BALL® FRESHTECH HARVESTPRO™ SAUCE MAKER with the small screen.
  3. Place the BALL® FRESHTECH HARVESTPRO™ SAUCE MAKER on a surface that is large enough to accommodate the sauce maker, the large baking sheet and a medium size bowl.
  4. Mix the Ball Fruit Fresh with the water in a large bowl.
  5. Pit and slice the peaches, leaving the skin on into the bowl of Fruit Fresh and water.

  7. Once all the peaches are sliced set the Harvest Pro up and place the bowl under the shoot and the baking sheet under the expel mouth.
  8. Fill the top with peach slices and turn the machine on.
  9. Make sure the bowl is in place to catch the peach peels and the baking sheet is in position to catch the peach puree.
  10. Continue feeding peach slices in until you run out of fruit.
  11. Turn the machine off.
  12. Use an offset spatula to smooth out the top of the peach puree.
  13. Carefully place the baking sheet in the warm oven.
  14. Bake for 8 to 12 hours or until lightly tacky when touched.
  15. Remove from oven and cool.
