I'm sure by now most of you know I am a Florida gal. I've been living here most of my life and Florida agriculture has played a big part in my life. As a food blogger, I have access to Fresh from Florida produce 12 months out of the year.

During the winter months when most of the country is dealing with freezing temperatures and buried in snow I can enjoy the vine ripened fresh flavors of Florida's winter vegetable and fruit crops.

As a child when my family first moved here in the summer of 1976 the first job my mother had was at a packing house in Homestead, Florida. For those who don't know a packing house is where fresh fruits and vegetables are taken straight from the farm, sorted and packed in shipping boxes then shipped all over the country.

Homestead is and has been a mecca of Florida agriculture for a long time. Now I live in Fort Myers, Florida. Another huge farming community.

This time of the year the stores are bursting with Fresh From Florida Blueberries, Tomatoes, Sweet Corn, Watermelon and Fresh from Florida Seafood.

Shopping for fresh produce at this time of year I know I am going to enjoy some of the freshest Florida-grown produce available. We look forward to the sweetest Sweet Corn you could ever bite into during the summer months.

Watermelon never tastes as sweet as it does during the hot summer months. The kids love it. It is a delight to watch them as they bite into an ice cold half moon slices of Florida watermelon and try to catch the sweet juice with their tongues as it runs down their arms.

There are so many ways to cool off during the hot summer months with a Fresh from Florida Watermelon!

Florida Blueberries have the best flavor. Those little gems are bursting with flavor and packed full of good for you vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Nothing tastes better than a vine ripened Florida tomato sandwich. I look forward to one as soon as I see those ruby red globes start to show up in the produce department.
