Ever wonder what to do with those weird looking Dragon fruits you've seen in the produce department and farmers market? They make the best Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowls for breakfast.

You can make this delicious, wholesome and healthy Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowl to take advantage of all the health benefits this tropical super food has to offer.

What is a Dragon Fruit?

Dragon Fruits are the fruit of a cactus that is very low in calories, very filling and rich in antioxidants. Dragon Fruits are high in fiber, protein, calcium, potassium, magnesium and a rich source of vitamins and minerals.

Ripe Dragon Fruit can be peeled and eaten out of hand like any other fruit or added to recipes like, smoothies bowls, smoothies and smoothie ice pops.

You'll find fresh Dragon Fruit in the produce section of most grocery stores near the other tropical fruits.

Like most other healthy fruits and vegetables the brighter the color the more health benefits. Purple Dragon Fruit is higher in all the nutrients that the white fleshed Dragon Fruit has.

Be warned though that the juice from the bright purple color of a Dragon Fruit will stain everything it comes in contact with.

What does a Dragon Fruit Taste like?

Each variety of a Dragon Fruit will have it's own flavor profile. The flavor of a Dragon Fruit is hard to describe. Imagine the flavors of melon, kiwi and pear all mixed together. You'll have to try one yourself to find out.

Acai Bowls are just as good. And are just as easy to make.

Oh such a pretty color Arlene. I must be honest and say I have still not warmed up to the dragan fruit. I do love having a bowl of smoothie in the mornings on weekends. So I'm definitely going to try this one.

Lots of great fruit flavours here. Dragon Fruit is such and unusual looking fruit. I have had it a couple of times, and do see in the grocery store often.

I am always looking for something tasty and nutritional after a hard cycling workout. This looks so inviting! just a banana kinda leaves me thinking -- blah!! Having something as good as this would help me work harder. I've already pinned!! Have a nice weekend.

LOL Marisa you can leave out the banana if you like. I know some people like banana in their smoothie and others hate it.
