Sweet Chili Mango Sauce

The mangos have been plentiful this year and I have been enjoying them every chance I get. I made this Sweet Chili Mango Sauce to go with some grilled chicken I was making for dinner one night.

I'm obsessed with the flavor of sweet and spicy. I have been wanting to make homemade Sweet Chili Sauce forever. I have quickly made it a few times in the past but never wrote down the recipe while I was making it.

I knew this Sweet Chili Mango Sauce recipe would be perfect with the Chicken and Mango Fresh Spring Rolls I planned on making.

I made up a fresh batch so I could dip my Chicken Mango Fresh Spring Rolls in it and this time I wrote down the instructions.

I love using this Sweet Chili Mango Sauce on chicken. It also is great as a dipping sauce for shrimp.

Homemade sweet chili sauce is very easy to make. All you do is add the ingredients to a pot and simmer. I added the mango in at the end of the cooking time because I wanted this Sweet Chili Mango Sauce to be chunky.

  4. Increase heat to medium again and return to a boil.
  5. Mix the 3 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
  6. Add to the pot and stir until sauce has thickened.
  7. Add the diced mango to the pot.
  8. Reduce heat and simmer 4 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  10. Store in a mason jar or other glass container in the refrigerator for a week.

  13. Makes one pint.

NOTES: How to control the heat/spice in homemade sweet chili sauce? For the ultimate in hot and spicy sweet chili sauce mince the entire pepper, seeds and membrane, for medium heat remove all the membrane but leave the seeds in, for the tamest Sweet Chili Sauce remove all the membrane and seeds before mincing the pepper.
