Hot dips are always a hit with my family and this chicken dip is no exception.
This buffalo chicken dip recipe makes about 4 cups of dip.
You could do the same or if your guests or family like spicy food you could add the jalapenos to the crock pot and cook them along with the buffalo dip recipe.
How to make Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Dip
Ingredients
This hot chip dip recipe is so easy to make and only needs 5 ingredients!
- cooked chicken
- shredded cheese
- cream cheese
- sour cream
- buffalo wing sauce
Directions
Recipe Note: If using a rotisserie chicken remove the meat from the bones and roughly chop before starting the recipe.
Step 1: Place the cooked chicken, one cup of sharp cheddar cheese, the softened cream cheese, the sour cream, and 1 cup of your favorite buffalo wing sauce in a small 3 quart slow cooker.
Step 2: Mix the ingredients with a large wooden spoon.
Step 3: Place the lid on the crock pot and turn the temperature on high.
Slow cook on high for 1 to 1 ½ hours or on low for 2 to 2 ½ hours.
Step 4: Every half hour carefully remove the lid and stir the ingredients to prevent scorching.
Step 5: Once the cheese and cream cheese have melted completely and the dip is hot sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the top.
Reduce the heat to low if you have been cooking on high and recover the slow cooker. Heat until the shredded cheese has melted.
Step 6: Serve the buffalo dip with tortilla chips, potato chips, vegetables or crackers. You can turn the crockpot on the warm setting and serve this chip dip straight from the slow cooker on a buffet table.
Or keep the dip warm in the crock pot and right before your guest arrive transfer the warm dip to a serving bowl.

- Chicken: This spicy dip can be made with rotisserie chicken, leftover cooked chicken or canned chicken that has been drain well.
- Buffalo Ranch Dip: Want to make Buffalo Ranch Chicken Dip? Add a package of dry Ranch dressing/dip mix or 1 ½ tablespoons of my Gourmet Buttermilk Ranch Dressing mix to the crock pot.
- Serving: Serve from the crock pot or a serving bowl. Keep the dip warm in the crock pot until ready to serve if using a bowl.

- For a spicier Buffalo chicken dip add about 1 tablespoon of chopped quick pickled jalapeños and mix into the dip before serving.

Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Dip
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked or canned chicken (rotisserie chicken ,2 cups leftover shredded cooked chicken or well drained canned chicken)
- 8 ounces block sharp cheddar cheese (shredded and divided in half)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (cubed)
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup buffalo wing sauce
Instructions
Recipe Prep
- If using a rotisserie chicken strip the meat from the chicken and roughly chop. If using leftover cooked chicken remove from the bone and chop.
- If using canned chicken to make the dip open the cans and drain well.
Combine ingredients and slow cook
- Place the cooked chicken into the bottom of the crock pot. Add half of the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, cream cheese, sour cream and buffalo wing sauce.
- Stir the dip ingredients until the chicken is mixed in. Place the lid on the crock pot.
- Slow cook on high for 1 to 1 ½ hours stirring every thirty minutes. Or on low for about 2 to 2 ½ hours. Check frequently to prevent scorching.
- Once the cheeses have melted and the dip is hot sprinkle the remaining sharp cheddar cheese over the top of the dip. Replace the lid and continue cooking until the cheese on the top is melted.
- Makes about 4 cups of dip.
- Serve the hot chip dip from the crock pot set on the warm setting or a serving bowl with chips, crackers or vegetables.
