Blackened Shrimp Scampi

 Blackened Shrimp Scampi is one of the easiest shrimp recipes you can make. It only takes a few minutes to make this delicious shrimp recipe.

Precook your pasta and you can have dinner on the table in under 10 minutes.

Shrimp Scampi happens to be one of our favorite seafood recipes.
It is one of the easiest ways to make a fast meal using only a few ingredients.

I used fresh Florida Pink Shrimp harvested locally in the Gulf of Mexico & bought locally at Skip One Seafood Restaurant which also has a fresh seafood market on site.

It is THE place to eat or buy fresh Florida seafood here in S.W. Florida where I live.

If you have never tasted a Florida Pink Shrimp you have no idea what you are missing.

Florida Pink Shrimp have the sweetest flavor.

So the next time you are in S.W Florida either stop by one of the local fish markets or when ordering from one of the local restaurants be sure to ask for Florida Pink Shrimp.

I promise you will not be disappointed.

Blackened Shrimp Scampi on a plate

Cook your pasta before you begin cooking the blackened shrimp scampi so the pasta is done cooking before you start cooking the shrimp scampi.

The shrimp takes about 5 minutes to cook. You want the pasta ready and waiting.

Prepare the Pink shrimp by shelling and deveining.

Or purchase fresh or frozen shrimp that has already been cleaned to cut out this step.

Once you have the shrimp cleaned pat them dry with a paper towel and lay them out in a single layer on a plate.

Salt and pepper each side of the shrimp and then sprinkle an even layer of a Blackened fish seasoning on each side.

I used Badia Blackened Redfish seasoning but you can use any brand that is available in your area.

How To make Blackened Shrimp Scampi recipe

Once the pasta is cooked drain it and rinse it with cold water to keep it from sticking together. Set the pasta aside while you cook the shrimp.

Pour the extra virgin olive oil into a large saute pan and heat it on medium high. Add the shrimp to the pan in a single layer and cook for about 1-2 minutes. Cooking time will vary based on the size of the shrimp. Larger shrimp will need to cook a minute longer.

Turn the shrimp over and add the chopped garlic to the pan. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.

Add the pasta to the pan and toss. Serve immediately.

Blackened Shrimp Scampi Ingredients

  • 1 pound large Florida Pink Shrimp
  • ½ pound pasta, cooked el dente
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, chopped finely
  • Blackened fish seasoning
  • salt
  • pepper

Directions to make blacked shrimp scampi

  1. Cook the pasta before you start cooking the shrimp. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Peel and de-vein the shrimp.
  3. Rinse the shrimp in cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
  4. Place shrimp in a single layer on a plate. Salt and pepper the shrimp.
  5. Sprinkle the shrimp with an even layer of the Blackened fish seasoning.
  6. Flip shrimp over and repeat.
  7. In a large saute pan heat the olive oil on medium high.
  8. Place the shrimp in a single layer in the sauté pan.
  9. Cook uncovered for 1-3 minutes depending on the size of the shrimp. Larger shrimp will need to cook for about 2-3 minutes on the first side.
  10. Turn the shrimp over and add the chopped garlic to the pan.
  11. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp is cooked through. Do not overcook. Shrimp are done when they turn a bright pink color and are cooked through the center.
  12. If unsure remove a large shrimp from the pan, remove the pan from the heat and test the shrimp for doneness. Shrimp should be tender.
  13. Return to the heat if not completely cooked and cook for 2 more minutes.
  14. Add the cooked pasta to the pan and toss.
  15. Remove pan from heat and serve over pasta immediately.

    Mmmm - shrimp! I love shrimp, but my husband isn't a huge fan of them (or pasta. Weird, right?). "Lucky" for me, he's away from home right now! This looks like a quick, easy way to fix supper for myself while he's gone. Visiting from What to do Weekends!

    I love shrimp. I love olive oil and have been using it for years. In this recipe I think I may use half EVOO and half butter. That combination has given me such a smooth, rich feel in my mouth. Especially for any scampi recipe.
