No joke that is all you need to make no-churn vanilla ice cream.

Now the fun begins when you start making your own custom flavored no-churn ice cream recipes.

To make a red velvet ice cream all you need are some red velvet cookies. I used OREO red velvet cookies. If you can't find them you can substitute any brand red velvet sandwich cookie.

Ingredients

  • 10 oz package OREO Red Velvet Cookies, divided
  • 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
  • 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 drops AmeriColor Maroon food coloring paste

Directions

Step 1: Crush 12 red velvet sandwich cookies in a ziplock bag and set aside.

Step 2: Beat the whipping cream, vanilla and food coloring until stiff peaks form.

Step 3: Beat in the condensed milk until combined well. Make adjustments to the food coloring at this point if desired.

Step 4: Fold the crushed cookies in.

Step 5: Transfer to a 9 inch bread pan or a plastic bowl with a tight fitting lid. Freeze over night or until solid. Garnish with more crushed cookies before serving.

What does no churn ice cream mean?

No churn ice cream means you are making a quick version of homemade ice cream without an ice cream maker and using whipping cream and sweetened condensed milk instead of making an egg based ice cream custard and churning it in a ice cream maker.

Does no churn ice cream taste good?

If you are craving homemade ice cream but do not have an ice cream maker you can make no churn ice cream that is a quick and easy substitute for homemade ice cream. It tastes sweet and creamy just like real ice cream but is made with whipping cream and condensed milk.

Expert Recipe Tips

  • Make custom cookie ice cream by using other cookie flavors.
  • If using a bread pan to freeze the ice cream cover the pan with plastic wrap before freezing.
  • Garnish: Before serving crush the four remaining cookies and top each serving of ice cream with a tablespoon of crushed cookies.

Back during Shark Week I saw this awesome No-Churn Shark Frenzy Ice Cream recipe shared by Kimberly from A Night Owl Blog.

Inspiration struck when I saw the Shark Frenzy Ice Cream recipe and since I had this package of OREO Red Velvet Cookies hanging around I decided to make Red Velvet Cookie no-churn ice cream recipe.

Last Fall I made No-Churn Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream but, I didn't whip the whipping cream and that no-churn ice cream was hard as a rock! Whipping the whipping cream makes such a difference!
