Not everyone has the time or inclination to pull out the barbecue grill, smoker or heat up the house with the oven when your craving pulled pork sandwiches.
I love smoking a big pork roast and making pulled pork sandwiches but sometimes I want to make a pulled pork sandwich without all the work.
Slow cooking boneless pork ribs in the crock pot is how I can enjoy a barbecued pulled pork sandwich on a busy weeknight or a big holiday like the 4th of July when I want pulled pork but don't want to fire up the grill.
Smoking a pork roast on the grill takes hours.
Plus you have to go in and out of the house to keep an eye on the smoker and the pork roast during cooking time.
Sometimes I just don't feel like messing with the grill for hours.
The best part about this recipe is that there are only 5 ingredients and one is optional.

Recipe FAQS
Pulled pork can dry out in the crock pot if it is over cooked. Keeping the meat covered in barbecue sauce can help keep the pork moist and prevent drying out.

- You can use a squirt of yellow mustard instead of powdered mustard.

Does the meat need to be thawed or can it be frozen?
Arlene Mobley
Hi Rachel
It is best to use thawed meat because frozen meat will release more liquid and will cause the bbq sauce to be very thin and watery.

Made this and my husband loved it!! This will be one of my go to recipes from now on

This recipe looks great... I'm making it tonight for my boyfriend and his/our kids alongside some homemade pepper/ranch potatoes! The only change I made was to add a bit of pepper, because I like it so much 🙂 I shared this on Pinterest and will be sharing on my (new) blog as well if all goes well!

Hi! Just wondering will boneless pork LOIN work for this as well? And would I have to cook it for any longer? Thanks!
Arlene Mobley
Hi Steph
Yes a pork loin will work for this recipe. It takes about 5-6 hours for a 3 lb pork loin to cook in the crock pot on high. I recently made Mexican Pulled Pork Tacos in the crock pot.

Arlene Mobley
Sophie

I'm kind of a novice at cooking, but this looked easy so I tried it. OMG! It turned out perfectly and sooooo delicious! I cut the recipe down to two pounds of pork riblets and reduced the other ingredients accordingly. I did use a large bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce but I didn't use all of it. I'm just feeding my hubby and myself so we had lots of leftovers as it is. Hubby absolutely loved it, too. This is a new favorite.

Flour On My Face
Ale
I have never used a pressure cooker so I can't say if it would work.
Kate
I dont have a crockpot too. Tried this today using an oven in a very low setting (225 F) and it worked. I used ceramic loaf pan, covered it with foil, and baked for 4 hours, then took it out to stir and pull the pork apart and baked without the foil for another 2 hours or until the sauce becomes very sticky. Had to add worcestershire sauce to suit my taste. It's the best ever!

I couldn't find boneless riblets, the butcher told me to use pork butt. Will this work?
Flour On My Face
Shay
Boneless pork chops will work also. I have not made this recipe with a pork butt. It would work also but you may need to double the ingredients for the bbq sauce so it covers the pork butt in the crock pot.
Melissa
This is the best pulled pork recipe I've ever made. It is simply to die for. Sweet, moist and really saucy, just the way we love it! Thanks so much for sharing!

What size bottle of baby ray's did you use?
I made just 1 lb of this last week for my husband and I ...it was really good! Now we're planning to make the full version for a party. How many servings did you make from this recipe?
Thanks in advance!
Flour On My Face
Hi Cheryl
I'm so glad you enjoyed the recipe! I used the regular size bottle of Baby Ray's not the extra big bottle. This recipe fed my family of 6 (5 adults, 1 child) and we had plenty of leftovers
Cheryl
Thanks! We wound up having a party of 8 adults...many who went back for seconds..and still had leftovers. Lots of compliments from the guests!
