Enjoy the sweet and tangy flavor of Crock Pot Hawaiian BBQ Ribs this summer with only 4 ingredients.

I love bbq ribs and was so excited when I found the new (affiliate link)  Sweet Baby Ray's Hawaiian Style BBQ sauce at the grocery store.

Crock Pot Hawaiian Style Pork Ribs

This Crock Pot Hawaiian BBQ Ribs recipe only has 3 ingredients, plus the pork rub.

You can skip the pork rub if you like. It is not necessary but it does add another layer of flavor. I always use a pork rub when I make ribs.

Prep

  • Prepare the ribs: Remove the ribs from the packaging and rinse under cold water. Place the ribs down on a cookie sheet or other flat surface. Use the tip of a sharp knife to separate the piece of the membrane (silverskin) from the back of the pork ribs. Use a piece of paper towel to hold on to the slippery membrane and pull the membrane from the backside of the rack of ribs. You may need to repeat a few more times if the membrane does not come off in one piece.
  • Cover the ribs with Pork Rub: Heavily coat both sides of the ribs with pork rub. Use clean hands to rub the seasoning all over the ribs. Cover the ribs with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. The longer the better.

Pork Rubs

There are many fine pork rubs available at the grocery stores these days. It is very easy to make a homemade sweet and spicy pork rub of your own. You can customize it to suit the flavors you love the most.

I like a little spice in my pork rubs so I will add more heat. If you like a sweeter pork rub add a little more brown sugar.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lb slab of pork ribs
  • 1 bottle Baby Ray's Hawaiian Style BBQ Sauce (affiliate link)
  • 1 can pineapple bits
  • pork rub (optional)

Directions

  1. Mix the ingredients for the rub together if making.
  2. Remove the thin membrane from the backside of the rack of ribs
  3. Rub the pork rub over both sides of the ribs. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
  4. Place the ribs into the crock pot, cutting them into pieces if needed to fit, place the thickest ribs at the bottom.
  5. Mix the Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and pineapple bits. Pour over the ribs.
  6. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours until the meat is cooked through.
  7. Once done remove the ribs from the crock pot and place them on a cookie sheet. Place in the oven under the broiler at 450 F. degrees and broil for 10 minutes until browned. Brush the ribs with more bbq sauce before serving.

I don't think you would get the same color or flavor if you brown before cooking. The lovely color comes from the sugars in in the bbq sauce and pineapple pieces.

Hi Arlene -- I just discovered your site and am thrilled with the selection of recipes and all the other great information you generously share! I love ribs, but have always been hesitant (or intimidated) to make them, but this crock pot recipe looks too good (and easy) to pass up. Question: Did you use spareribs or baby backs? Can either one be used in this recipe? Thank you so much!
