Nutella French Toast Casserole with banana cinnamon syrup is a perfect Mother's Day breakfast or brunch recipe.
Back in 2011, I hosted a Mother's Day Brunch for the Mother's in my family.
I wanted to make something special so I made Double Stuffed Nutella French Toast.
That recipe is still talked about among the family. It is so good! Nutella recipes are some of our favorites. This Nutella Puff Pastry Christmas Tree is a easy holiday dessert you can serve for breakfast or after dinner.
While I was flipping through a copy of The Annual Cast Iron Editon (Feb 2016 issue) from Taste of the South Magazine I saw a recipe for French Toast Casserole.
As soon as I saw that recipe I knew I was going to convert my Double Stuffed Nutella French Toast recipe into this Nutella French Toast Casserole recipe you see here.
I used the new Sara Lee Artisanal bread. We fell in love with this new bread from Sara Lee when I made my Breakfast Grilled Cheese sandwiches last month.
If you can't find it you can use a good thick bread like the White Mountian bread that Publix carries in their bakery.
Or use any thick sliced bread you can find. Regular sandwich bread is too thin. You need a good thick slice of bread for this recipe.
This Skillet French Toast Casserole not only tastes awesome but makes a beautiful presentation.
Serving food in cast iron skillets it so much fun. I love easy one pan meals like this breakfast casserole recipe.
Top the Nutella French Toast Casserole with a special Banana Cinnamon Syrup.

Expert Recipe Tips
- Bread: Use a thick sliced bread. This helps the egg soaked slices hold their shape.
- Syrup: I wanted an extra special syrup for this recipe. You can use bottles pancake syrup also.
- Leftovers: Leftover can be refrigerated and eaten within a couple of days.
- Freezer friendly: You could also warp individual pieces in plastic wrap and freeze them for another day.
