How to Make DIY Solid Perfume
I have wanted to make an all-natural DIY Solid Perfume for a long time. You see I don't wear perfume. I haven't been able to for many years now.
It's has something to do with the additives and fragrance oils they use in regular perfume. It does something bad to me and my body.
DIY Solid Perfume recipe
While I was making my DIY Calendula Salve, I decided it was high time I made some All Natural Solid Perfume.
I already had out all the supplies I would need.
I used almond oil as the base oil for my DIY Solid Perfume but if you have already made the DIY Calendula Oil I made for the DIY Calendula Salve you could use that instead.
The Calendula Oil has just a hint of an earthy scent note that would blend very well with many essential oils.
I'd like to wear something that smells pretty once in a while. I love the scent of lavender essential oil.
So a DIY Lavender Solid Perfume was my first choice. But really... lavender is so overdone these days. It's everywhere.
I figured if I was going to make something as exotic as an all natural DIY Solid Perfume I might as well go all out and spoil myself a little bit.
And I did go all out.
I used two of the most expensive essential oils I own. Ylang Ylang and Rosewood.
I thought the floral scent of the Ylang Ylang essential oil and the slightly woodsy but floral scent of the Rosewood essential oil would make a beautiful perfume.
I'm so glad I went with my instinct. It smells divine!
I have had a nice size stash of essential oils for years.
If you buy good quality essential oils they will last forever as long as you store them properly.
Essential oils should be stored in dark glass bottles out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
A dark cabinet is a perfect place to store your essential oils.
Solid Perfume Containers
Any small lip balm container can be used to make solid perfume.
You could even use a lip balm tube if you'd like to.
I purchased a toiletry container kit from Target that came with a little pot perfect for this DIY Solid Perfume.
You can find similar kits in the Dollar Store.
If you have any old plastic lip balm containers you could wash it out and recycle it.
How to pick a scent for DIY Solid Perfume
Making your own signature scent is easy when you have a few different essential oils on hand to choose from.
You can start out easy with one essential oil scent like Lavender essential oil or you can blend one or two of your favorite essential oils to come up with an original perfume scent that no one else will ever own.
Unless of course, you decide to share.
Keep a notebook handy so you can write down the exact number of drops of essential oils you used to make your DIY Solid Perfume.
Take it from me you will never remember your "recipe" next time you decide to recreate your favorite scent sometime down the line.
