Slow cooking country style pork spareribs makes the pork meat tender and fall off the bone. The best part is you only need 3 ingredients to make this Crock Pot Sweet Smoky Barbecue Ribs recipe.

How to cook country style pork ribs in a slow cooker?

Country-style pork ribs can be cooked in a slow cooker just like any type of pork ribs.

The cooking time will be longer because the meat of a country-style pork rib is much thicker than the pork meat of regular pork spareribs.

Place the pork ribs in an 8-quart crock pot or the casserole size crock pot. Pour your favorite barbecue sauce over the ribs and let the slow cooker do all the work for you.

In just a short time you will be enjoying the best barbecue spareribs you've ever tasted.

How long does it take to cook pork ribs in a slow cooker on high?

It will depend on the type of pork sparerib you are cooking. I cooked these country-style bone-in pork ribs for 4 hours in the casserole crock pot.

After 3 hours of slow cooking, I removed the crock pot lid and brushed more barbecue sauce over the pork ribs.

I love the flavor of cooked barbecue sauce much more than pouring the uncooked barbecue sauce over the ribs when serving.

I think the barbecue sauce has a more intense and richer flavor when it is cooked on the meat.

If you like to cook your pork ribs in a slow cooker on low you would cook them for about double the time of cooking on high.

But keep in mind the cooking time for each slow cooker will vary based on the size of the slow cooker, the number of pork ribs, and the type of pork ribs you are cooking.

A good rule of thumb when cooking in a slow cooker is to never fill your crock pot more than ¾th of the way full.

This allows the slow cooker to heat up faster and to reach the correct slow cooker cooking temperature you need to cook the food safely and completely.

Warm Weather Crock Pot Recipes

Now that the warm weather is here it is time to start enjoying the sweet and smoky flavor of barbecue spareribs.

Using the slow cooker to make these Crock Pot Sweet Smoky Barbecue Ribs and still get the smoky flavor of a grill is possible when you add a little bit of liquid smoke to the recipe.

How to get a Smoky Barbecue Flavor in a Slow Cooker?

(affiliate links ahead) Liquid Smoke is available at most grocery store chains and can be found in a few different smoke flavors.

  • Natural Hickory Liquid Smoke,
  • Apple-wood Liquid Smoke,
  • Pecan Wood Liquid Smoke Flavoring.
  • If you're really lucky you can even find my all-time favorite Mesquite Liquid Smoke flavoring.

Keep an eye out and soon you will have your slow cooker turning out all kinds of sweet and smoky barbecue flavored food without standing out in the blazing sun watching the grill.
