I have some warm and fuzzy memories from childhood of my mom making us kids a grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of piping hot tomato soup. It was the best meal for a cold winters night.

Back then grilled cheese bread options were pretty limited. You had your plain white bread and if you were lucky 2 slices of American cheese instead of one.

How to make the Ultimate Breakfast Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Sara Lee® Artesano™ Bread
  • 16 pieces Bacon, cooked crispy and drained well
  • 4 Fried eggs
  • 8 slices American Cheese
  • 1 package Potatoes O'Brian, cooked

Directions

  1. Cook the bacon the way you like it and drain on a double layer of paper towels.
  2. While the bacon is cooking cook the potatoes in a skillet until done.
  3. Fry 4 eggs the way you like them.
  4. For each grilled sandwich place 1 piece of cheese, two pieces of bacon, top with two heaping spoons of potatoes, add one egg to the stack.Top the egg with 2 more slices of bacon. Add another slice of cheese. Cover with a slice of bread.
  5. Repeat for the remaining 3 sandwiches.
  6. Heat a skillet to medium heat.
  7. Lightly butter the top piece of bread.
  8. Once the pan has heated carefully lift one sandwich and place it butter side down in the pan.
  9. Butter the unbuttered top slice of bread.
  10. Cook until the bread is a golden brown and the cheese on the bottom layer begins to melt.
  11. Carefully flip the Breakfast sandwich over and cook until the bread is golden and cheese melted.
  12. Cut in half and serve immediately.
  13. Repeat with the remaining breakfast sandwiches.
  14. Makes 4 servings.

Ingredients  

  • 8 slices of thick white bread
  • 16 pieces bacon (cooked crispy and drained well)
  • 4 large fried eggs
  • 8 slices American Cheese
  • 1 package Potatoes O'Brian or hash browns ((cooked following the directions))

Instructions 

Prep

  • Fry the 4 eggs the way you like them, runny yolk or not. Place on a plate.

Make the sandwich

  • For each Breakfast Grilled Cheese Sandwich place 1 piece of cheese, two pieces of bacon, top with two heaping spoons of potatoes, then add one egg to the stack.
  • Top the egg with 2 more slices of bacon and add another slice of cheese.
  • Cover with another slice of white bread. Repeat for the remaining 3 sandwiches.
  • Heat a skillet to medium heat.

    This looks simply amazing! We will be adding it to our menu next month and trying it out it's spring time so we are getting tons of eggs from our chickens right now!
