Dunkin Donuts flavored ground coffees make fun iced coffee flavors to make your own homemade iced coffee concentrate.
Everyone in my family are big Dunkin Donuts fans. We are lucky enough to have a Dunkin Donut located less than 5 minutes away. On the weekends we will pick up donuts or bagels for breakfast. Any time we feel like it we stop in for an iced coffee or Frappuccino.
Cold brew coffee concentrate
For years I have been brewing one quart jars of cold brew iced coffee concentrate each week so I can enjoy great tasting iced coffee and my favorite coffee shop drinks without ever leaving home.
The cold brewing method makes the smoothest iced coffee. You do not get any of the bitterness that you get when coffee is brewed hot and then poured over ice. The cold brewed coffee steeping process results in low-acid coffee every time.
Coffee steeping process
Cold brewing method takes a little planning but is so worth it. Once you get a taste of an iced coffee made at home with the cold brew method you will never brew a hot cup of coffee for an iced coffee again.
Custom cold brew recipes
To make cold brew coconut iced coffee or any coffee flavor you very simply add the flavored coffee grounds to a jar and fill the jar with water.
Set it on the counter for 12-24 hours. When the time is up strain the coffee concentrate through a fine mesh strainer lined with a coffee filter.
Rinse the jar and return the coffee concentrate to the clean jar. Store in the refrigerator. To make a glass of iced coffee pour some of the coffee concentrate into a glass filled with ice. Top off with your choice of dairy. I use milk or coffee creamer. Sweeten with your choice of sweetener.
I've never actually measured the amount of coffee concentrate I add to a glass. I usually drink it out of a pint size mason jar. I fill my jar with ice then pour the coffee concentrate in till the glass is about a ⅓ full. Then I pour milk in, add sugar and stir. I learned by trial and error what made the perfect glass of iced coffee for me.
My daughter likes hers much stronger and will fill her glass almost ⅔ full before adding creamer. You just have to make it a few times to figure out where you're perfect iced coffee needs to be.
Cold brew for summer
Crafting the perfect cold brew iced coffee at home can be a delightful and rewarding experience.
It offers you the flexibility to experiment with different beans, ground coffee flavors, and brewing times to create a brew that suits your taste perfectly.
With its smooth, less acidic taste, cold brew coffee is an excellent option for a refreshing drink any time of the day. So, grab your favorite mug, settle in, and relish the rich, flavorful experience of homemade cold brew iced coffee. Cheers to your next chilled coffee adventure!

Recipe Expert Tips
- I first learned of the cold brew method of iced coffee from the Pioneer Woman's blog. She makes a much larger amount of cold brewed coffee concentrate. I've adjusted her directions for my own use making a smaller amount of coffee concentrate that lasts me about a week.

Along with the Dunkin Donuts seasonal flavor coffee, donuts, bagels & cream cheese, we enjoyed my favorite Mother's Day brunch recipe of Nutella Double Stuffed French Toast, pancakes, sausage, hash browns and a very delicious breakfast casserole my MIL Bonnie made that I did not get a photo of. I will be getting the recipe from her and posting it soon.

I love cold brewed coffee for my homemade cold coffee drinks. One way I have done it in the past is to make 'tea bags' of coffee. Use coffee filters fill with some coffee grounds and tie shut. Let them soak in the water overnight. Then you take the bags out and its much cleaner than filtering out the grounds.
PS How/where can I get involved in getting to sample new flavors. Sounds awesome!! 🙂

Hello there! I tried making cold brew coffee today but it didn't turn out as I originally tried it. When speaking of how much water you use, do you fill it all the way up to the top of the jar? Or do you just use enough to cover the grounds? I used just a little more to cover my 1/3 cup of grounds and it wasn't bad, but not the best.
Any advice? I'll try your 1 cup recipe next time haha!

Jake I put 1 cup coffee grounds into a 1 quart canning jar. I then fill the jar with water and shake. I then add enough water to fill the jar.

Here's a simple tip to make this a lot easier. Tried this today, it came out good but didn't have Dunkin coffee so I'm going to run and grab some to try it with. Anyway, when it came to having to strain it I thought why don't I just pour it into my french press after steeping to separate the grinds from the coffee. That is the easy solution, buy yourself a french press (they're not very expensive at all). Steep the coffee in that for 24 hours, then when it's ready, push the plunger down and your grinds are separated, coffee is ready to pour. Ready to go in seconds with no mess/strainer/filter etc. I have a 2 cup Bodum french press, works great.

Mike thanks for the great tip!

I'm trying this for the first time today..I'll let you know how it turns out..I do have one question I assume that since it's cold brew method that after you put in your one cup of coffee and you added your water to the top, do you then put it in the fridge for the 24 hrs???

I just set mine out on the counter. After you strain out the coffee ground then you can chill it. I just made a new batch yesterday!

I never knew how to make cold-brewed coffee, although I did learn a trick for Dunkin Donuts' own double-brewed coffee when I worked at an independently-owned coffee shop as a barista. You brew a pot of hot coffee, chill it in the fridge until it's cold, and then use the cold coffee in place of the water to brew a second pot. And boy does it come out strong (and amazing!)
You put together such an awesome Mother's Day Brunch!
