This smoky homemade pork chop seasoning is a savory blend perfect for everything from pork chops to pork roasts, and you can make a big batch to keep on hand for quick weeknight meals. Making your own pork seasoning at home is not only a great way to pack flavor into your favorite cuts of pork, but it's also much easier on your grocery budget.

This simple pork seasoning is easy to make with a handful of dried herbs and spices you probably have in your spice cabinet right now.

It is one seasoning blend you can use any way you like to cook bone-in or boneless chops. You can use it to make baked pork chops, grilled, air fryer or pan fried or skillet cooked pork.

Or use it to season a pork loin roast you are baking in the oven.

This spice blend is easy to make and turns bland and boring pork chops into flavorful, juicy pork that'll have everyone at the table asking for seconds.

Make homemade seasonings to save money!

If you are looking for ways to save money at the grocery store make your own spice and seasoning blends.

You probably already have most of the herbs and spices needed in your spice cabinet to mix up your favorite seasoning blends, like Italian seasoning and blackened seasoning. Three of the most popular seasonings that have gotten very expensive at the store.

With the prices of almost everything I usually buy sky rocketing I have decided to make some easy changes in my spending habits that will, in the long run save me money.

Every little thing we can do can make a big difference in how much it costs monthly to feed a family. And it doesn't matter whether your family is small or large.

I do a lot of different money saving things from buying bulk meats and freezing them when on sale, stocking the freezer with full meals to making extra soups to freeze for lunches and quick dinners.

Ingredient Notes

Below are the ingredients I use to make my pork seasoning recipe. You can make a few adjustments if you like.

See the recipe card below for the full list and amounts of spices I use. See the notes below if you want to make a large batch that will fill a 4 oz. spice jar like I have.

Premeasured pork chop seasoning ingredients.
  • salt: you can use table salt, sea salt or even pink Himalayan salt for the recipe. If you need to watch your salt intake you can use half the amount called for in the recipe.
  • paprika: I love using smoked paprika in my recipes for the extra smokey flavor it adds which is perfect for pork. If you only have sweet paprika on hand you can use it instead.
  • brown sugar: the molasses in brown sugar adds a lovely color and caramelization to pork chops and adds a very subtle sweetness which is perfect on pork. It is optional and you can omit it if needed.
  • cayenne pepper: adds just a hint of spicy flavor. You can add more or less depending on your tastes.

Step by Step Directions

Follow the easy step by step directions with pictures below. You can find the more detailed directions in the recipe card below.

  • Step 1: Measure all of the spices into a bowl.
  • Step 2: Use a whisk to gently blend the spices together. As you whisk break up any lumps of the dried spices until they blend evenly with the other herbs and spices.

How to use

Pork chop seasoning can be used to season any cut of pork you are cooking. It is a great seasoning to use on boneless pork chops cooked in skillet.

The seasoning forms a delicious smokey crust when cooked over medium high heat in a non stick or cast iron skillet.

  1. For best results: Sprinkle both sides of each pork chop with the about 1 teaspoon of seasoning for each side of the pork chop.
  2. Cover the pork chops and place in the refrigerator letting them marinate for 15-30 minutes before cooking.
  3. Cook your chops as desired on the grill, in the oven or make pan-seared pork chops in a skillet.
  4. You can even use this seasoning on a pork tenderloin roast you bake in the oven or slow cooked in the crock pot.

This pork chop seasoning recipe will make about 3 ½ tablespoons which is enough to season 4 to 6 pork chops.

If you want to make enough to fill a 4 oz. spice jar that you can keep in the spice cabinet make 3 times the recipe. Which you can easily do with a click of a button in my recipe card below.
