These tri-color Kool-Aid ice pops are a fun way to help kids cool down on a hot summer day. Made with colorful layers of fruity flavor, they're simple to prep and exciting for little ones to pull from the freezer.

This easy frozen treat is great for summer break, backyard playdates, pool days, and cookouts. With just a few ingredients and a little freezing time between layers, you can make homemade ice pops that look bright, taste sweet, and bring a little extra fun to warm-weather days.

Kool-Aid Ice Pops, Summer Treats, #KoolOff,

When I was a kid we could always count on big icy glass of a Kool-Aid drink to cool us off during the hot summer months. When we knew mom had bought a handful of those brightly colorful packets of Kool-Aid drink mix we would pester and annoy her till she made a big pitcherfull.

Back then we had to wait while mom mixed up the powdered Kool-Aid drink packet with water and sugar. And back then refrigerators didn't have ice makers! If mom hadn't remembered to fill the ice cube trays we had to wait forever for the ice cubes to freeze before we could gulp down a big glassful. That was pure torture.

I can remember standing there watching her as she poured the Kool-Aid packet into the pitcher full of water. It was like magic as the color changed from boring clear to a bright red. Cherry was always my favorite flavor.

As I mentioned back when I was a kid we had to mix it up ourselves. Now we can buy the new 96oz Ready-To-Drink Kool-Aid in a bottle . These new 96 oz bottles are perfect for the beach or the park. They make bringing everyones favorite drink to any gathering so much easier.

I found the Kool-Aid 96 oz bottles on an endcap by the drink aisle at Walmart. It was also located on the shelves with the other Kool-Aid products.

The dog days of summer are heading our way. Here it is and we are already hitting the 90's. It's like that here where I live. One day we are having beautiful Spring like weather and bam! the next thing you know it's in the 90's.

Down here in Florida one of our favorite ways to cool off is with an ice pop. Young and old alike can be seen with a brightly colored and quickly melting ice pop as they try to cool off. At the same time trying to keep the brightly colored ice pop juice from running down a forearm.

Making fun multicolored and flavored ice pops is so easy with the new Kool-Aid bottles. They come in three flavors. Watermelon, Grape and Tropical Punch. I picked up a bottle of the Watermelon and Grape flavors. Two of our favorite Kool-Aid flavors.

How to make tri-colored ice pops

To make these tri-colored Kool-Aid Ice Pops you will need three flavors of Kool-Aid and a popsicle mold.

  • Step 1: Using your favorite ice pop mold pour a small amount of the first flavor of Kool-Aid into the bottom of the ice pop mold.
  • Step 2: Place the mold in the freezer and allow the layer to freeze solid.
  • Step 3: Add your next flavor of Kool-Aid to the mold. Return to the freezer and freeze.
  • Step 4: Add your third flavor of Kool-Aid to the ice pop mold. Before returning to the freezer add your ice pop sticks.
  • Step 5: If using an ice pop mold like I have add the cover first then insert the ice pop sticks. Freeze the Kool-Aid ice pops until frozen solid. This can take a couple of hours depending on your freezer.
