Homemade Limoncello Liquor

Making homemade liqueurs is very easy to do. Take homemade Limoncello for example. All you need is some vodka, lemons, water, and sugar. You probably have sugar and water already so you are half way there to home bottling your own homemade Limoncello.

Next you'll need a bottle of vodka and some lemons.

Even though I live in Florida and have access to citrus all year long. Every winter I look forward to when Meyer Lemons show up in the produce aisle.

Meyer Lemons are a bit different than regular lemons. For one thing, Meyer lemons have a much thinner skin and that makes them a bit difficult to ship compared to the standard lemon you find in the stores. That is why you will only find them for a short time in the grocery stores.

If your lucky enough to have a Meyer Lemon tree or know someone who has a Meyer Lemon tree then you will probably have access to Meyer Lemons most of the year.

Meyer Lemons also have a much mellower lemon flavor. Meyer Lemons are sweeter and less tart than a regular lemon. Making them perfect for homemade Limoncello.
