Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken Recipe

Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken is a creamy crock pot chicken recipe that tastes amazing.

Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken with Italian Dressing

This Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken recipe is made with Italian Dressing mix.

Do you know those little envelopes of Italian Dressing mix that you mix in a container with oil and vinegar to make Italian salad dressing?

You can find them on a top shelf on the salad dressing aisle.

These little salad dressing packets are packed full of flavor and can be used as a marinade and for many recipes, not just this Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken recipe.

When you slow cook chicken that has been seasoned with Italian Dressing mix the chicken absorbs all the delicious herbs and spices.

Ingredients to make creamy chicken recipes

This Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken recipe is very easy to make and only has a couple of ingredients.

You'll need skinless, boneless chicken breasts or thighs, melted butter, Italian Dressing mix, white cooking wine, and cream cheese.

I served the Cream Cheese Chicken over tender wide egg noodles but it could be served over cooked white rice.

I share my tips on how to make perfect white rice every time in my Crock Pot Stuffed Bell Peppers recipe.

Cooking with White Cooking Wine

Have you ever used white cooking wine when you cook?

You might think recipes that call for cooking wine might be complicated and would be something your family would never eat.

Recipes like this Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken are easy to make and tastes so good that your family will gobble it up.

Cooking wine adds an amazing amount of flavor that you can't get from any other ingredient.

The alcohol in the cooking wine cooks out as the food cooks so you don't need to worry about adding cooking wine if you are cooking for children.

The chicken in this recipe will absorb all the delicious flavors of the wine but the food doesn't taste like wine at all.

Crock Pot Chicken Recipes with White  Cooking Wine

One of my favorite crock pot chicken recipes that include cooking wine in the ingredients is my Crock Pot Crustless Chicken Pot Pie recipe.

Once I forgot to add the cooking wine when I made it.

Crock Pot Crustless Chicken Pot Pie recipe is gluten free and low carb. A creamy sauce with chicken and vegetables is delicious and a perfect family recipe via flouronmyface.com

After the first bite, I knew something was missing immediately. I learned my lesson.

White Cooking Wine is one ingredient you can not replace with any other.

If you have never used white cooking wine in a recipe try it. I know you will like it!

Let's get cooking

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken halves (about 2- 2 ½ lbs boneless chicken)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • envelope Italian Dressing Mix
  • ½ cup cooking wine (I used Pompeian White Cooking Wine)
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 8 to 16 oz wide noodles, cooked

Directions

  1. Trim the boneless chicken breasts of all fat and or grizzle.
  2. Place the chicken in the crock pot in a single layer.
  3. Pour the melted butter over the chicken pieces and brush to butter over the top of each chicken piece.
  4. Sprinkle the Italian dressing seasoning over the chicken breasts.
  5. Pour the white cooking wine over and around the chicken pieces.
  6. Cover the crock pot and cook for 2 hours on high or 3 to 4 hours on low.
  7. After 2 hours use an instant-read thermometer to check the center of the thickest piece of chicken. Chicken is done when the internal temp reaches 165.
  8. When the chicken is cooked through unwrap the block of cream cheese and place it on the center of the chicken pieces. Recover the crock pot and allow the cream cheese to soften. (see notes)
  9. Once softens spread the cream cheese over the chicken pieces. Using 2 forks shred the cooked chicken breasts.
  10. Stir to combine. Serve from the crock pot to plate or place the cooked wide egg noodles into a casserole dish and spoon the chicken and cream cheese sauce over the noodles before serving.
  11. Make 4 to 6 servings depending on how many adults and children you are feeding.

Helpful tips

  • Cooking time is based on the exact directions given in this recipe. If you stack the chicken it will take longer to cook. If you use chicken tenders it will cook way too fast. I do not recommend using chicken tender size chicken pieces for this or any of my other crock pot chicken recipes that call for chicken breast halves.
  • Italian dressing mix is not the same thing as Italian seasonings.
  • I do not recommend cooking this recipe for 7 or 8 hours as you may have seen in other recipes. Chicken breast halves will dry out very badly after cooking for 7 to 8 hours.
  • I cooked this recipe in a 7-quart crock pot slow cooker. The chicken breasts you see in the photos were cooked through in 2 hours on high.
  • I took the cream cheese from the refrigerator to the crock pot. It was cold and took about 15 minutes to soften. If your cream cheese is room temp it will soften much faster.
