You probably already have most of the herbs and spices needed in your spice cabinet to mix up your favorite seasoning blends, like Italian seasoning and blackened seasoning. Three of the most popular seasonings that have gotten very expensive at the store.
With the prices of almost everything I usually buy sky rocketing I have decided to make some easy changes in my spending habits that will, in the long run save me money.
Every little thing we can do can make a big difference in how much it costs monthly to feed a family. And it doesn't matter whether your family is small or large.
I do a lot of different money saving things from buying bulk meats and freezing them when on sale, stocking the freezer with full meals to making extra soups to freeze for lunches and quick dinners.
Ingredient Notes
Below are the ingredients I use to make my pork seasoning recipe. You can make a few adjustments if you like.
See the recipe card below for the full list and amounts of spices I use. See the notes below if you want to make a large batch that will fill a 4 oz. spice jar like I have.

- salt: you can use table salt, sea salt or even pink Himalayan salt for the recipe. If you need to watch your salt intake you can use half the amount called for in the recipe.
- paprika: I love using smoked paprika in my recipes for the extra smokey flavor it adds which is perfect for pork. If you only have sweet paprika on hand you can use it instead.
- brown sugar: the molasses in brown sugar adds a lovely color and caramelization to pork chops and adds a very subtle sweetness which is perfect on pork. It is optional and you can omit it if needed.
- cayenne pepper: adds just a hint of spicy flavor. You can add more or less depending on your tastes.

Step by Step Directions
Follow the easy step by step directions with pictures below. You can find the more detailed directions in the recipe card below.
