Homemade Instant Hot Cocoa Mix

I have been making a larger version of this Homemade Instant Hot Cocoa Mix for years. This is my all time most requested homemade holidays recipe.

I love to make this Instant Hot Cocoa Mix recipe, package it in holiday cellophane bags and tuck the bag into a holiday mug.

This Instant Hot Cocoa Mix will make 9-10 cups of hot cocoa mix. You can make 9-10 homemade holiday gifts with this recipe.

This Homemade Instant Hot Cocoa Mix can be packaged in a mason jar for your holiday gift giving. Or you can package it individually in cellophane bags and tuck it into a pretty holiday mug.

How to make Homemade Instant Hot Cocoa Mix

Ingredients
  • 9.3 oz container Nesquick
  • 5 cups powdered milk or two 9.6 oz packages Carnation Instant Milk
  • 1 ½ cups non-dairy powdered coffee creamer
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 jumbo candy canes
  • mini marshmallows
Directions
  1. Sift all the dry ingredients one at a time into a very large bowl.
  2. Mix with a large spoon until ingredients are uniform in color. (No streaks of white visible.)
  3. Crush the jumbo candy canes and mix in with the cocoa mix.
  4. Layer cocoa mix in a mason jar with mini marshmallows.

To make one cup of cocoa

  1. Heat a mug of milk in the microwave.
  2. Mix 4 tablespoons of the instant cocoa mix in the mug of hot milk.
  3. Garnish with whipped cream and crushed candy cane.
