Cool off with an Iced Coffee Milkshake this summer.

Iced Coffee Milkshake recipe

In the summer when I was a child one of the best things I got to do was go out for ice cream. I spent a lot of time with my grandmother when I was growing up.

She loved to go out and have lunch at the drug store. Most of you are probably too young to ever have been at a drug store that also had a lunch counter.

We'd go to the Rexal Drugstore down in Homestead where I lived when I was a child.

Odds were good that we would stop in at the lunch counter. Sometimes we would get lunch. Other times my grandmother would get a cup of coffee and I would get a treat.

Usually it was a milkshake. Not only was getting the milkshake a treat but it also cooled me off. You see my grandmother didn't drive. Matter of fact most of my family didn't drive. That seems odd now but when I was a kid it was just part of life. That meant we had to walk to the store. In the hot South Florida heat if we wanted to go shopping.

As I was making this recipe using International Delight Iced Coffee it reminded me of those hot summer days spent with my grandmother. Back then I would enjoy a vanilla or strawberry milkshake. Now as an adult I get to enjoy adult flavors like a mocha iced coffee shake.

With the temperatures rising I like to cool off with an iced coffee. I actually drink one every day at home no matter the season. I'm a coffee fiend. I drink it hot. I drink it cold. And I enjoy the flavor  in any other way I can come up with like this Mocha Iced Coffee Shake.

Now that I have been enjoying International Delight Iced Coffee I have been thinking of other ways I can enjoy it this summer. My coffee partners ( my daughters) love it when I come up with a recipe using coffee. They went crazy for the Mocha Caramel Macchiato Shooters I came up with last week. This week it was this Mocha Iced Coffee Shake.

Who knows what I'll come up with next.

I picked up a ½ gallon of Mocha Iced Coffee and the creamer at Walmart over the weekend.

International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee and Cold Stone Creamery Sweet Cream creamer.

Today I had a chance to try my idea out. I've been drinking the Cold Stone  Creamery coffee creamer in my coffee and it had me thinking about coffee ice cream. It was the inspiration for this recipe.

Top with whipped topping, chocolate sprinkles and a cherry.

I can't think of a better way to cool off in the hot summer heat then to enjoy a Mocha Iced Coffee Shake.

That looks like a great treat for a hot day! A bit too easy to make though 🙂 - I think I could go through quite a few in the summer. Our Rexall didn't have ice cream, but I remember walking to the Thrifty drugstore on summer days - single cones were 5 cents and you could get a triple cone for 15 cents those days!
