🍗How To Freeze Chicken So It Lasts

How long frozen chicken will last in the freezer depends on how well you package it up before you freeze it. And if you are like me and buy boneless chicken in bulk every time it goes on sale you need to do a few things to make sure your bulk buying is actually saving you money.

☝Top tip!: After years of freezing chicken I have learned the most important chicken freezing tip is to use the correct type of freezer bags.

I always use quart or gallon freezer baggies or I vacuum seal the chicken using (affiliate) my food saver vacuum sealer and bags into meal size portions.

I learned very quickly if I didn't use freezer specific bags the chicken quickly got freezer burn and ice crystals formed and I had to throw the chicken in the trash and I wasted a good chunk of mt food budget.

🖨️Recommended Printing

My freezer meal labels have been designed to fit perfectly on Avery Trueblock Printable Shipping Labels with Sure Feed, 3-⅓" x 4", White. I have printed them with my home printer and tested the labels in my freezer. My ink has never smudged or run. 

The labels are permanent when affixed to zip top plastic bags or vacuum sealer bags and will not fall off while in the freezer. If using on glass or reusable plastic containers I suggest using the Avery 6464 Label instead.

💧Are these labels waterproof?

Note: Most consumer home printer inks are not waterproof. If you have a laser printer then you can print a waterproof label. Most inkjet home printers use a water based ink so if water droplets or a water spills on the label the ink may run depending on your home printer.  I've have very good luck with the printer I use.
