Crock Pot Chicken a la King
This weeks crock pot recipe is a throwback to my childhood. Crock Pot Chicken a la King is one of those comfort foods you can never get enough of. It is a perfect Sunday supper or is one of those perfect creamy dishes that will warm you up on a chilly evening in the winter.
As a kid, I would eat Chicken a la King all the time. Only it wasn't homemade chicken a la king. It was those boil in a bag meals that cost about a $1 back in the day.
Are you saying to yourself "huh" what's she talking about boil in the bag meals?
I know, weird right? I'm not sure if they sell those one serving boil in a bag meals anymore. I haven't seen them in years, but back in the day you could buy frozen chicken a la king, sliced turkey and gravy orchipped beef all sealed up in a plastic bag that you dropped in boiling water to cook.
My favorite was the chicken a la king. I would cook it then pour it over a piece of toast. Back then it tasted pretty good to a hungry kid. These days I prefer making my Crock Pot Chicken a la King much more. I also serve it over a bed of rice. You could also serve it over a bed of egg noodles if you prefer. And I bet it would taste great over a piece of toast.

I had forgotten chicken a la king...and how much I loved it growing up. My question is: It shows adding the cornstarch and water two different times. Do you divide the mixture and add it before and after the peas/onions? Not sure it would make that big a difference, but I wouldn't want to mess up a good thing. BTW, thanks soooo much for sharing this. Will be making and enjoying it soon! 😀
