This easy homemade single serve deep dish pizza recipe is one of my favorite homemade pizza dough recipes. I make homemade pizza about twice a month.
My family loves it when I make homemade pizza for dinner. Each of us enjoy different toppings.
My husband likes pepperoni, hamburger and hot dogs on his pizza.
Yes I said hot dogs. I know it's gross but he would not even eat my homemade pizza if I left out the hot dogs.
My youngest daughter is strictly a cheese and pepperoni kind of gal.
I love pepperoni, mozzarella and ricotta on my personal pan pizza. Or sometimes I will add sliced onion and bell pepper. It depends on the pizza mood I am in.
Sometimes I buy the envelopes of pizza dough from the grocery store. It is so easy to make homemade pizza dough that way.
Homemade pizza dough is so much better than the dough you make from a box. And it is so easy to make.
If you have a large family you can make my Freezer Pizza Dough recipe that will make 6 servings of pizza dough.
The Freezer Meals Pizza Dough recipe is meant to be bagged up and frozen to use later but if you need to make a big batch of homemade pizza dough you can mix it up and make six personal pan pizza out of it.
This homemade pizza dough recipe is perfect when you just want to make a single homemade pizza.
This Single Serve Deep Dish Pizza recipe will make one deep dish 8 or 9-inch pizza.
You could probably get two thin crust personal pizzas out of this recipe. If thin crust is what you like.
You can also double the Single Serve Deep Dish Pizza recipe if you need to make two personal pan pizzas.
Deep Dish Pizza Dough Ingredients
One batch of pizza dough is made with these basic baking ingredients.
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 generous tablespoon olive oil, plus more to grease the pan
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons of dry active yeast (see notes)
- 1 ¾ cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- shredded mozzarella cheese and pizza toppings of choice
Directions
Step 1: Measure the water, honey, olive oil into a glass measuring cup or small bowl. Warm in the microwave for 20 seconds. Add the yeast and gently stir to combine. Set aside.
Wait 5 minutes for the yeast to bloom.
Step 2: Measure the flour into a large bowl and add the salt. Whisk together.
Step 3: Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl of flour.
Step 4: Using a large spoon mix the liquids into the flour. If the dough is very sticky sprinkle a tablespoon of flour over the dough until it is no longer sticky.
Step 5: Using the heel of you hand turn and knead the dough in the bowl. Sprinkle more flour onto the dough until it is smooth and no longer sticky. Knead the pizza dough about 3 minutes.
Step 6: Pour about a tablespoon of olive oil over the ball of dough. Flip the dough to cover all sides with the oil.
Step 7: Cover the bowl loosely and place in a draft free warm area to rise until about doubled in size. About 45 minutes to an hour.
Step 8: Pre-heat oven to 450 F. degrees.
Step 9: Punch dough down and form a tight ball. Let rest about 5 minutes. Grease a nine inch cake pan or cast iron skillet with olive oil.
Step 10: Place dough into the center of the cake pan or cast iron skillet and push down to flatten into a disk.
Using the heal of your hand work the dough from the center out to edges of pan.
If dough is resisting and pulling away from the edges of the pan, stop and allow the dough to rest another five minutes before continuing.
Step 11: Spread 2 to 3 tablespoons of homemade pizza sauce over the dough and add shredded mozzarella cheese and pizza toppings.
Step 12: Bake for about 12 minutes until dough is cooked through and crispy on the bottom and edges and the cheese has melted.
Recipe FAQ's
