Sweet-Savory Stuffed Shells #SweetandSavoryWithLagostina

Disclosure: This Sweet-Savory Stuffed Shells recipe has been sponsored by Lagostina. I received a Lagostina Lasagnera product in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

This Sweet-Savory Stuffed Shells recipe has a secret sweet ingredient. You'll have to read more to find out what it is.

Also check out below how you can win your very own beautiful hand crafted in Italy Lagostina Lasagnera baking pan.

Sweet-Savory Stuffed Shells served in a Lagostina Lasagna pan #ad

 What is the secret ingredient?

To make this Sweet and Savory Stuffed Shells recipe I used a jar of gourmet butternut squash pasta sauce for the sweet side and the savory side comes from the hot Italian sausage. Butternut squash is one of my favorite fall flavors.

This delicious stuffed shells recipe served in a Lagostina Lasagnera pan would be perfect for a non traditional holiday meal or any time you are having the family over for dinner.

Lagostina Pan

The Lagostina Lasagnera pan is perfect for oven to table meals like stuffed shells or homemade lasagna. It can also be used to bake your favorite casserole recipes or dessert recipes.

Lagostina Heritage Lasagnera Pan

This beautiful stainless-steel lasagna pan has a mirror-polished exterior and classy cherry-wood lid and is made in Italy. The cast stainless-steel handles are perfectly positioned so you never lose a grip on the pan as you are lifting it from oven to table.

I have almost drop a heavy tray of lasagna as I was putting it in the oven because the lasagna pan I was using didn't even have handles. When I make lasagna for my family I have to make a huge 6 lb. or larger tray to feed all of us.

The Lasagnera is a 14” x 8.5” pan and is the perfect size for the huge tray of pasta I have to cook when I make a baked pasta recipe like this Sweet and Savory Stuffed Shells recipe for the family.

Serving Sweet-Savory Stuffed Shells in the Lagostina Lasagnera

Once a few years ago I accidentally dropped a glass pan full of left over vegetable lasagna as I took it out of the refrigerator the next day to warm up.

As you can imagine it all had to go into the trash. What a waste of good food and money spent on the ingredients. I was so mad!

Lagostina Lasagna Pan with wooden lid is perfect for holiday meals.

The Lasagnera is available at Williams Sonoma in store or online. The Lasagnera would be perfect for your holiday meal or would make a perfect wedding or Christmas gift this year.

How to make Sweet and Savory Stuffed Shells

Ingredients

  • 1 lb hot Italian sausage
  • 25 oz. jar Butternut Squash pasta sauce
  • 12 oz. box large shell pasta, cooked, drained and rinsed well
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese, divided in half
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black, pepper
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 F. degrees.
  2. Remove the casing from the sausage and brown in a skillet. Break the sausage into crumbles as it cooks. Drain as much oil from the sausage once it is cooked through.

  4. Cook the large shells following the manufacturers directions for a baked dish. Drain the pasta and run cold water over the shells to remove some of the starch which will keep the shells from sticking together. Set aside.
  5. Divide the mozzarella cheese in half setting one half aside for topping the stuffed shells.
  6.  In a large bowl beat the egg well.
  7. Add half the mozzarella cheese to the bowl, and add the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt and pepper.
  8. Mix well to combine.
  9. Spread half of the sauce mixture into the bottom of a lasagna pan.
  10. Arrange the cooked shell pasta in a single layer in the pan.
  11. Fill each shell with the ricotta cheese mixture.
  12. Drizzle remaining sauce over shells and top the shells with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  13. Bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes.

I really like that the pan can be used on any type of cooktop, including induction and it's dishwasher safe. Many other great features, but those are my favorite.

Even though I really like that cherry wood lid, my favorite thing is the handles on the pan. I make lasagna often, & it can be heavy & hot & it comes right up to the top of the pan. I'm always touching the lasagna with the potholders & getting them dirty. Having handles on a lasagna pan would be great! My favorite features of this pan are the size/dimensions. Also, while I have some glass or ceramic pans this size, it is nice to have a nonbreakable option for cooking when you might have liquid drippings or you might need to add liquid when thep an is hot.

I am sorry I have no experience with pinterest, so I cannot complete those entries.
