Red White and Blue Cake Bars

Hello, 4th of July! These Red White and Blue Cake Bars are perfect for your 4th of July Dessert recipe. The kids will love them because the flag on top is made with the special edition red, white and blue Skittles® America Mix candy.

The Skittles® America Mix with red, white, and blue Skittles feature the flavors of strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, wild berry, and yumberry flavors. Yumberry is the very first white Skittles® candy flavor ever and it is my favorite flavor in the awesome red, white and blue Skittles candy that is perfect for all you 4th of July candy decorating needs.
The 4th of July Red, White and Blue Cake Bars are very easy to make and so much fun to decorate with the American Flag in celebration of the 4th of July holiday.
I achieved the vibrant red and blue colors for the red and blue layers of the cake bars by using Ameri-color soft gel paste food coloring.
The Skittle® America Mix with the red, white, and blue candy are perfect to create a flag with on top of the icing of the red, white and blue cake bars.
If you want to celebrate the 4th of July in true American style you can make these very easy to make and decorate red, white and blue Flag cake bars.
4th of July Red White and Blue Cake Bars recipe
Ingredients
- 1 box white cake mix
- 2 extra large eggs
- ½ cup oil
- Red Ameri-color Soft Gel Paste Food Color-about 10 drops
- Blue Ameri-color Soft Gel Paste Food Color-about 10 drops
- 1 can Marshmallow Frosting
- Skittles® candy America Mix
Directions
- Mix the cake mix, eggs and oil in a large bowl and divide the dough into three equal portions.
- Mix the red food dye into one portion.
- Mix the blue food dye into another portion.
- Leave the third portion of dough uncolored.
- Spread the red colored dough into the bottom of a rectangular brownie pan that has been lined with parchment paper.
- Next spread the white uncolored cake dough carefully over the red dough with the back of a spoon.
- Spread the blue dough over the white dough.
- Bake in a preheated 350 F. degree oven for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Once cool frost with the entire container of marshmallow frosting.
- Arrange the red, white and blue Skittles® candy America Mix over the top of the frosting in a Flag pattern.
- Cut into bars to serve.
