Helpful tips to make Instant Pot Ham and White Bean Soup Recipe

  • All dried beans are not equal. As much as I love to save money I have learned that the cheaper store brand beans are not as high quality as a brand name dried beans. Cooking times may vary depending on the brand of beans you buy. The cheaper store brand beans seem to take longer to cook. I have come to rely on Camellia dried beans or any other quality brand.
  • If you do not have a leftover ham bone to cook with you can buy precooked ham, a ham-hock and in a pinch, you could even use a pound of thick sliced bacon for this recipe. The bacon will add flavor but you will not have any thick chunks of ham in the cooked soup.

This recipe looks so good. Ham and beans is simply a big bowl of comfort. The delicious ham and creamy beans really hit the spot when it is cold and snowing outside. Wish I had this recipe going on right now. The snow is going to be around for a while -- I'm going to get some supplies in so I can make it. This recipe is certainly one that I know I'll make often.

One of the reasons I love this soup is that it's so hearty....you can eat this as a meal. I also love that you used leftover ham. Can't wait to give it a try!

This looks so delicious and filling! We eat soup all year long too, which is great because I'm always cold. So soup is especially important during winter. We'd love this.

I don't have an Instant Pot, but I do have a pressure cooker. I know I can adapt this to work. We are in the middle of winter here in Canada. Soup is the best this time of year. I know my family would love this for sure.

Is it 1/2 tsp. of salt? Recipe just states 1/2 tsp. Also, how much chicken stock? I don't see that in the list of ingredients, but it's in the directions.

Yes, it is 1/2 teaspoon salt and 6 cups chicken or vegetable stock. I've updated the recipe if you'd like to print it out.
