If you have never tasted Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing then you are in for a treat. I promise you once you taste this homemade Ranch Dressing you will never buy store bought again!

How to make Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing recipe with a homemade ranch seasoning mix via flouronmyface.com

I found this Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing recipe many years ago and it has become my all time favorite homemade dressing recipe.

You mix up a batch of the homemade ranch seasoning mix and you can make 4 - 2 cup batches of homemade ranch dressing with it. The photo above shows a double batch of the homemade ranch seasoning mix.

I eat it so often that I always keep a jar of the ranch seasoning mix in my cabinet ready to mix with buttermilk and mayonnaise. It tastes better than anything you will buy. It is cheaper to make than it is to buy a bottle of dressing or packet ranch seasoning mix.

When I make the homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing I mix a half batch which makes 1 cup of ranch dressing. That works for me since I am usually the only one eating salad on a regular basis.

I eat a Chef's Salad a couple of times a week. Some weeks more than that. This Buttermilk Ranch dressing and this Chef's salad is my go to salad.

This Buttermilk Ranch Dressing recipe is perfect as is. I like to add an extra tablespoon or two of mayonnaise to get it real thick. I've noticed that the thickness depends on the buttermilk. All buttermilk is not created equal.

Try it the way it is written and if you like your ranch dressing thicker then add the extra mayo to it the next time you make it.

I was introduced to Hidden Valley Ranch dressing at a dinner at the Ranch in Santa Barbara, Ca. many years ago. A small butcher shop in nearby Montecino sold small packets of the seasonings to mix with buttermilk and mayonnaise. There were four ingredients: garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and dried parsley. The bottled dressing came out shortly after I left SB. This recipe is spot on.
