Cheesy Bacon Garlic PinWheel Recipe

Disclosure: This Cheesy recipe post has been sponsored by Fleischmann’s.
This year, Fleischmann’s Yeast, Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade Baking Mixes and Karo Syrup – trusted baking products that have been kitchen staples for more than 100 years – launched the Baking A Difference campaign to benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to help end childhood hunger in America.
To help spread the word about this very important cause I was challenged to take the Fleischmann’s Classic Dinner Roll recipe and make a recipe other than plain dinner rolls. I decided to go the savory route with my Cheesy Bacon Pinwheel recipe.
How to make Cheesy Bacon and Pinwheel Recipe
This Cheesy Bacon & Garlic Pinwheel recipe turned out so good! The rolls/pinwheels were so tender and cheesy. I did not alter the Fleischmann’s Classic Dinner Roll recipe. I followed the original recipe up until the point of where you form the dough into rolls.
Instead I rolled the dough out into a large rectangle. After the dough was rolled out then I spread some fresh garlic butter over the dough, topping it with a cheddar cheese mix with a bit of cream cheese. Then I sprinkled some crispy bacon over the cheese.
Next I rolled up the dough (just like you would a jelly roll) and cut it into pinwheels. After baking it I then topped the pinwheels with more cheese and bacon. Returning it to the oven until the cheese was melted.
There has been a number of questions about this recipe & the shredded cheese and cream cheese mixture in my ingredient list. Kraft has a shredded cheese that includes a touch of cream cheese. {Kraft touch of philadelphia shredded triple cheddar} This is the cheese that I used to fill and top the Cheesy Bacon Garlic Pinwheels. You do not need to buy any cream cheese or add any cream cheese to the recipe. Just purchase the bag of Kraft Shredded cheese with a touch of cream cheese already included.
Feel free to send me an email if you have any more questions.
Cheesy Bacon Garlic PinWheels
Ingredients
Fleischmann Classic Dinner Roll recipe
- 2 to 2-¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 envelope Fleischmann's® RapidRise Yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter OR margarine
Toppings
- 2 cups Kraft Triple Cheddar shredded cheese with cream cheese mix
- 1 pound bacon cooked crisp and chopped.
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
- ½ teaspoon parsley
Instructions
- Combine ¾ cup flour, undissolved yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Heat milk, water and butter until very warm (120° to 130°F). Add to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Add ¼ cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Using a rolling pin on a floured surface roll the dough into a 9 x 13 inch rectangle.
- Spread 2 teaspoons melted butter on the top of the rectangle of dough. Evenly spread 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese over the dough.
- Sprinkle half the bacon over the cheese.
- Tightly roll the dough up starting at one of the 9 inch edges.
- Cut the dough into 12 pinwheels by first cutting it in half. Then cut the halves in half. Now cut each section into 3 pin wheels for a total of 12.
- Arrange on a greased baking tray or pie pan.
- Drizzle the reserved butter and chopped garlic over the tops of the pinwheels.
- Loosely cover and let rise 30 minutes or until doubled.
- Bake in a pre-heated 375 degree oven for 20 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the remaining cup of cheddar cheese and bacon over the top of the rolls.
- Return to oven and bake until cheese is melted about 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven and serve immediately.

I love eating bacon, cooked until fairly crisp. BLTs are my favorite sandwich, and they're even better with avocado slices.

I love bacon and I love to bake it in the oven and it cooks evenly, does not curl up and makes the house smell great. I love to cut the pack in half and weave three pieces straight with three pieces over and bake in the oven and it makes a perfect size for a BLT sandwich, it is so yummy and does not fall off the bread
