Homemade Jams and Jellies
I've had a very busy weekend in the kitchen. After seeing the wonderful strawberries in the grocery store I decided I NEEDED to make some strawberry jam. If you have ever made any home made jam you know exactly what I am talking about.
This is strawberry season in Florida so the berries are beautiful.
Once I got the idea in my head I just couldn't not make any jam. It has been a few years since I have done any canning and there is nothing like the taste of home made jam.
All of my canning jars were in storage but when I ran into Target for the pectin I found these gorgeous Ball canning jars. Target did not have the pectin by the way.
Boy canning jars have come a long way from when I first started canning back in 1989 when I first started making jams. I love the shape of these jars and the brushed silver lids. They are so pretty. So even though I had my old quilted sided jars I decided to buy a box of four. The ones I bought are the larger pint jars but they had these cute little squat half pint jars too. I didn't buy them and now I am kicking myself because they only had one box left.
I did go out and get my old jars out of storage because after making the strawberry jam I decided I also needed to make a batch of jalapeno jelly
