Cook Book The Pioneer Woman Cooks
Since cooking and collecting are two of my favorite hobbies. And one of the things besides vintage kitchen stuff that I love to collect are cook books.
And like most people who love to cook I can't wait to get my hands on the newest cook books that are out there. Usually what I do is check them out from the library first to see if I will actually make the recipes. Because there is nothing I hate worse then ordering a book on Amazon waiting anxiously for the book to arrive then finding out, after flipping through it that I will probaby never make more then one or two recipes that are in it. So to save myself the expense I do the library thing first.
This week I picked up a copy of the Pioneer Woman Cooks. I am a regular reader of Ree's blog A Pioneer Woman so I had seen a few of the recipes already. I hadn't tried any yet but still I love her blog and couldn't wait to see her cook book . Check her blog out there is so much more there to see.
I wasn't disappointed. I was happily surprised actually because not only is this cook book choke full of recipes I will make and that my family will enjoy. I say that because I do some cooking knowing that my husband and children will not even eat what I am making. Because hey I love to cook and bake and part of the enjoyment is experimenting. I can honestly say that my family will enjoy the majority of the recipes in this cook book.
Pioneer Woman Cooks is not only a beautiful cook book but it is the story of Ree's life, how she and her husband met and the life they lead on the ranch. Snuggled between all the down home country recipes are snippets of life on the cattle ranch. The book is also a cornucopia of Ree's beautiful color photography of her family and the ranch they live and work on.
If your looking for a cook book that is chock full of recipes for a real family. A family that loves meat and potatoes and country cooking style recipes this is the cook book for you.
I made Ree's Buttermilk Biscuit recipe two night ago and have to tell you they were flaky and delicious. I've got my eye on her pulled pork recipe next!
