Mango Iced Tea Recipe

Making your own flavored iced tea recipe is easy once you learn how to make a fruit flavored simple syrup. Mango Iced Tea is a great way to cool off in the summer heat.

— Granulated Sugar  — Water — Ripe Mangos — Regular or Black Tea Bags

INGREDIENTS

In a saucepan, combine diced mango, sugar, and water over low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase to medium-high, simmer 10 minutes,  mashing mango occasionally. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.

Strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove solids. You can keep the mango syrup for up to 1 week. When ready to make tea, bring 6 cups of water to a boil, add 10 tea bags, boil 1 minute, remove from heat, and steep 5 minutes.

Fill a large half-gallon pitcher with ice cubes and pour the brewed tea over the ice to quickly chill it. This helps keep the flavor fresh and prevents the tea from becoming cloudy as it cools.

To serve, fill a glass with ice, add about 4 tablespoons mango syrup, and top with chilled tea. Stir gently, then garnish with lemon or lime slices and a sprig of mint for a refreshing finish.
