Spray or lightly oil a 6- or 7-quart slow cooker to prevent sticking. Spread about 1½ cups of the meat sauce evenly across the bottom, then add a layer of the ricotta mixture.

Layer ziti over the ricotta, then cover with meat sauce. Layer pasta, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella until all ingredients are used, finishing with a generous layer of mozzarella cheese.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for about 4 hours, or until the pasta is tender and fully cooked. Let the baked ziti rest for a few minutes before serving for easier slicing and serving.
