Ingredients  

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup loosely packed lemon verbena leaves and stems

Instructions 

  • In a small pot add the water and sugar. Bring to a boil. Boil 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the pot from the hot burner. Allow to cool about 10 minutes.
  • Bruise the lemon verbena and add to the pot of syrup.
  • Stir it down so the syrup covers the lemon verbena.
  • Allow to steep for one hour.
  • Strain through cheese cloth or a fine mesh strainer. Be sure to remove all the pieces of lemon verbena.
  • Add a tablespoon or two to a glass of iced tea.
