Trim the tough ends and divide the asparagus spears into 7 bundles of 3 large or 5 small asparagus spears.
Wrap each bundle with one piece of bacon in a spiral along each bundle.
Arrange the asparagus bundles in a single layer on a shallow baking pan.
Drizzle olive oil over each bundle.
Sprinkle with the red pepper flakes if using and the salt and pepper.
In a preheated 400 F. degrees oven bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until bacon is crispy and golden.
