Strawberry Balsamic Ice Cream

The sweet and tart flavors of fresh strawberries with balsamic vinegar mixed into homemade creamy vanilla ice cream in this Strawberry Balsamic Ice Cream recipe is a flavor combination you can't miss.

INGREDIENTS

Dark Brown Sugar Balsamic Vinegar Ground Cinnamon Egg Yolks Granulated Sugar Milk Heavy Cream Vanilla Extract

In a medium saucepan, bring the strawberries, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, and cinnamon to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened. Remove from heat, let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate until ready to use.

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale yellow. Add milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, whisking to combine. Heat over medium, whisking constantly, until the mixture boils and thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Remove from heat, cool to  room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until well chilled. Once it is fully chilled, pour it into your ice cream maker  and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a  soft-serve consistency.

In a lidded container, spread half of the churned ice cream, then layer with half of the strawberry balsamic sauce. Repeat with the remaining ice cream and sauce. Swirl gently with a knife, cover tightly, and freeze overnight. Serve with fresh strawberries or extra sauce if desired.
