Homemade Fig Jam 

Make fig jam or fresh fig preserves so you can enjoy the flavor of fresh figs all year long. Making preserves from fresh figs is a great way to extend fig season through the winter months.

INGREDIENTS

Brown Turkey Figs Sugar | Water Bottled Lemon Juice Lemon Zest Margarine or Butter Certo Liquid Pectin

– Prepare  the Funfetti Cake & Cupcake mix as directed on the package adding  the ½ teaspoon to the bowl with the rest of the ingredients. – Fill cupcake papers ¾ full.

WASH

Wash figs, trim stems, and quarter them. Add the first six ingredients to a large pot, then let mixture rest 30 minutes, stirring occasionally while boiling jars and preparing lids in hot water.

Place pot over medium heat and bring the fig mixture to a full rolling boil. Continue boiling for about 10 minutes, stirring as needed to prevent the preserves from sticking or scorching.

BOIL

Stir in the liquid pectin and continue stirring until mixture returns to a full rolling boil. Stop stirring and boil exactly one minute, then remove the pot from heat and allow preserves to settle.

STIR

PROCESS

Skim any foam from the surface, then carefully ladle hot preserves into prepared jars. Secure the lids and process filled jars in a hot water bath for 20 minutes to properly seal them.
