Recipe Expert Tips

Recipe Tips & Substitutions
  • Fresh cucumber: You can skip deseeding the cucumber if you are using a cucumber with no seeds or very small seeds.
  • Fresh or dried Dill: Fresh dill is always best for a dill flavored dip recipe but if you don't have any on hand you can use dried dill weed. Taste and adjust the amount when using dried dill. Start with 1 teaspoon and adjust.
  • Cream cheese: I like the flavor of full fat cream cheese but you can use a low fat cream cheese.
  • Sour cream: Fresh cucumber will add moisture to the dip so I like to use a thicker sour cream that will help keep this dip very thick.
  • Sour cream: plain yogurt for the sour cream in the dip recipe instead of sour cream.
  • Salt and pepper: You can adjust the salt and pepper if needed after the dip has been refrigerated.
