INGREDIENTS

For sausage and gravy, brown the sausage in a large skillet until fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside, keeping the grease in the skillet. Add butter and melt before whisking in the flour to form a paste.

Gradually whisk in the 4 cups of milk until smooth. Add the salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and thicken the gravy before removing from heat. Next, make the scrambled egg and biscuit layer.

Whisk together eggs, milk, ½ cup of the cheese, and the seasonings in a bowl. Pour this mixture into your prepared dish, topping it with half of the sausage and the pieces of biscuit dough.

Finish by adding the remaining sausage, cheese, and half the gravy on top. Bake until the middle is firm and the biscuits are golden, 45 to 60 minutes. Serve hot with extra warm gravy on the side.
