A few weeks ago I packed an overnight bag and took myself and the girls on a little stayacation at a nearby Embassy Suites Hotel. You may have seen mention of the girls here before. The girls consisted of my two daughters, two granddaughters and a couple of close friends. Dad was picking them up when he got home from work.
The two youngest would only be staying a short time so the adults could have some free time to themselves.
The plans were to relax, hang out at the pool and enjoy the great amenities that the Embassy has to offer. Everyone needs a little break once in a while, right?
Summer time is the perfect time to plan a stayacation in my neck of the woods. It’s pretty quiet around here in the summer. Our peak season is in the winter time when people who live up north in colder climates flock to the area to enjoy the beautiful S.W. Florida weather.
I knew we could enjoy the pool without too much of a crowd and we were looking forward to a day in the sun splashing around in the pool.
Well Mother Nature decided to play a cruel trick on us. Early in the morning it started raining. It rained on and off for hours. I kept putting off the time to leave to see if the sun was going to come out.
See those dark clouds in the sky? It stayed over cast and cloudy all day. Living in Florida you can’t let a rainy day ruin your plans so off we went to the hotel.
The desk clerk was very helpful, check in took only minutes as he told us all about the available amenities . He explained the evening Managers Reception, free cooked-to-order breakfast served each morning, free wi-fi in all rooms and outside areas.
We were really looking forward to the evening Managers Reception of complimentary appetizers and beverages that is served for two hours after the littles went home with Dad.

After my grand daughters left a few friends met us and we went down to have a drink and some appetizers. The hostess took very good care of us. We then ordered dinner and enjoyed a great meal. I had the cheeseburger and fries and it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. The prices were very good. Not expensive like you find in some places.
After dinner we went out to the pool and hot tub. The girls enjoyed a dip. Sorry no pictures for that : )
We all had a great time.
Everything in the hotel was beautiful. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Almost everything about our stay was wonderful except that we missed breakfast. I had a roomful, there were six of us and even though we woke up early I got the times wrong for when breakfast ended. I thought it was 11 am but it was apparently 10 am. When we all trooped down to the dining room the buffet was empty. One of the kitchen staff offered dry cereal that was self-serve but we weren’t interested in that. I think it would have been nice had she offered us a bagel or muffin. By then my grand daughters were back after being dropped of by their Dad on his way to work and they were hungry!
We went back to our room and packed up to head home.
I also want to mention that the gift shop didn’t have much. When we first arrived my oldest grand-daughter broke her flip-flop. I headed down to the gift shop to see if they sold any slippers or flip-flops. Being in Florida and in a hotel that had a pool located near the beaches I thought I would probably find something that might work for her but the gift shop didn’t have much to offer. Sodas, coffee, candy and a few snacks. It was nothing like most gift shops I have visited in other hotels.
All in all we had a great time. I would highly recommend staying in an Embassy Suite Hotel to anyone planning a vacation.
