Blackberry Limeade

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ice
  • water

Instructions

  1. To make Blackberry Simple Syrup
  2. Put the first 4 ingredients into a medium sized saucepan.
  3. Heat on low until sugar has dissolved.
  4. Increase heat to medium and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer 15-20 minutes.
  6. Occasionally mash berries with a spoon.
  7. Remove from heat and cool.
  8. Strain blackberry syrup through a fine mesh strainer.
  9. Makes 2 1/2 cup blackberry simple syrup.
  10. To make Blackberry Limeade.
  11. Fill a quart size pitcher 3/4 full with ice
  12. Add 1/2 to 1 cup of fresh squeezed lime juice
  13. cups blackberry simple syrup
  14. -2 cups of water.
  15. Stir, taste to adjust sweetness if needed by adding more blackberry simple syrup.
  16. To serve pour over ice in a glass.
