Win a Ball #HeritageBlue

Jam & Jelly Maker Prize Pack

Have you figured out yet that I am in love with the new Ball Heritage Blue canning jars? Well I am actually in love with all things Ball if the truth be told. I’ve been canning for about 23 years now. Ball has always been my choice for canning products. They have recently came out with some new canning products. Besides the blue heritage jars last year they came out with the Ball Automatic Jam and Jelly Maker (affiliate link).

Ball Canning, Heritage Jars, Giveaway

Ball Canning Prize Pack

Last month I shared a series of easy summer drink recipes all served in the beautiful Ball Heritage Blue canning jars (affiliate link)
If you are looking for summer drink recipes check them out.

Summer Drink Recipes in the Heritage Blue Jars

Since I received  my own Ball Jam & Jelly Maker I have made a few batches of jam. One of the things I love about the Jam & Jelly Maker is that it makes small batches of jam or jelly. Each recipe that is formulated for the Jam & Jelly Maker from the jammers at Ball will make 4 half pints of jam or jelly. This actually works out perfect for me. Storage space is at a minimum in my kitchen. I can experiment with flavors that possibly not everyone in my family will enjoy. And I don’t  have to worry about having so many jars of jam on hand. It also is less expensive to make homemade jam or jelly because you need less ingredients to make a batch.

I use canning jars for both storing things and canning; so it’s a toss-up! They’re such a pretty color that it would be nice to use one as a vase for wildflowers.

I will give to my daughter in law who makes deserts and mixes in jars and gives as gifts and of course she will give me some, she makes neat stuff using the canning jars, thank you, she also has made jelly in the past and bet she would again.. (If I buy the fruit lol)

I use jars to store my dry goods in and to make overnight refrigerator oats. I would love to learn to make jam with this new electric jam maker!! Love jam on my toast , but can’t make it.

I would use the jam and jelly maker for jams. The jars would be used to hold those delectable jams and jellies, and also to hold my good for you home made bath scrubs and salts, and sugar scrubs. I can also see using the jars to drink from, at an outside party. Or, filled with some items and used to make a centerpiece on the table. I think they would be georgeous with some artificial candles in them, surrounded by colored scrunched up plastic wrap.

  11. Patricia R says

I have a very special recipe for apple butter using Lodi or transparent apples I like to make, getting a head start on the apple harvest season. Always got compliments on that and it would look great in the heritage jars, not to mention how good it would look in the cooker.

I’m a raving fan of Ball products. I’ve been fortunate in the past to work with the local Jarden office in northwest Arkansas (Walmart’s corporate HQ backyard), and I’m just an enormous fan of the brand. I use the jars to organize dry goods and snacks in pantry, as drinking jars, to store soups and items like fresh squeezed lime and grapefruit juice, and of course for canning. I have just one of the heritage blue jars, and I use it as a gorgeous vase.

I’ve actually been planing for ages to do a series of blog posts showing the ways I use Ball jars throughout my home – pantry, fridge, cosmetics and bathroom organizing, vases etc. SO, suffice it to say that I would use these everywhere! I’d like to really learn about traditional canning and preserving because I have mostly done quick pickles and similar approaches.

Apparently I should go rave on the corporate site and just shut up. Huge fan, love that you’ve covered this great resource!

  25. Jutta P. says

I would definitely use them for canning. Blueberries and Blackberries are going to be ripe here in the next month, so we need to put up some jam ASAP!

  26. caitlin maupin says

I am new to the canning community and I love it! This jam & jelly maker would be wonderful for making sugar free jams and jellies for my diabetic husband! We love using jars for storage but there is also nothing like drinking iced tea out of a jar! 😉
