It’s not everyday that I find out about a company who is really trying to make a difference in this country. There are many companies out there that support programs that give back but this company has taken it many levels higher. 

Unilever has a Sustainable Living Plan

“In November 2010, we set out the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, committing to a ten year journey towards sustainable growth. What makes our Plan different is that it applies right across the value chain. We are taking responsibility not just for our own direct operations but for our suppliers, distributors and – crucially – for how our consumers use our brands. Underpinning the Plan are over 50 targets. Here we report on our progress in the first year of the Plan.”

One of the ways Unilever is making a huge impact on families across America is with the Cross Off Hunger Campaign through Feeding America. 

“Unilever is committed to donating more than two million meals to families in need with Feeding America and every item on your shopping list counts.  Show your support by adding Unilever brands to your cart next time you shop.  Together we can help to Cross Off Hunger.”

 

I had no idea I was doing my part to support Unilever in their efforts to feed two million families simply by doing my shopping like I always do. I had no idea they were the company behind many of the products that my family loves.

Products that I buy almost every single week when I go shopping.

Below is a list of products Unilever produces.

I don’t think there is an adult that lives in this country that doesn’t know that hunger is an issue for many families nation wide. In my area of Southwest Florida we have been hit badly by the downfall of the economy. At one time not long ago our area of the state was the fastest growing county in the state of Florida.

Construction of new homes and retail buildings was booming. Jobs were available. The unemployment rate was low.

You know what I love about the Dove Self Esteem Project? There is a Toolkit on the website that gives  parents age appropriate tips and projects to do with their daughters to help build their self esteem and deal with the drama that comes along with being a girl these days.

Suave Turn Off the Tap is another Unilever project that is part of their Sustainable Living Plan. 

We all know that turning off the tap is an important part of saving water. Head over to the Suave Facebook page and pledge to turn off the tap and earn 10 RecycleBank points.

I am going to do my part to help Unilever continue with these great programs by adding a few more of their products to my shopping list.
